Meet Naama

My name is Naama Iskhakov, and I am a Registered Psychology Associate in the state of Maryland, working under the supervision of Dr. Dan Isenberg, a Licensed Psychologist. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Stevenson University. Currently, I have completed my fourth year of doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Stevenson University.

As part of my clinical training, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including elementary and high schools within Baltimore City Public Schools, a college counseling center, and a private practice. Through these experiences, I’ve provided therapy and psychological assessments to children, adolescents, and adults across diverse racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identities. I’ve supported clients facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, identity exploration, social challenges, and ADHD. Before beginning my formal clinical training, I also worked as an ABA therapist, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities across the lifespan.

My therapeutic style is client-centered and collaborative. I believe therapy should meet people where they are—some clients value a space for deep emotional exploration, while others are looking for practical tools and solutions. For me, effective therapy involves tailoring the approach to each individual’s unique needs, preferences, and goals. Before each session, I take time to ground myself in humility and warmth, qualities I see as essential to creating a safe and supportive therapeutic space.

Humility is also central to my multicultural approach. I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives, and it’s important to approach each person’s background, identity, and experiences with openness and respect. This mindset helps me build genuine, trusting relationships and avoid assumptions that can create distance in the therapeutic process.

My approach is guided by a psychodynamic and multicultural framework, which helps me understand the deeper roots of a person’s difficulties. I integrate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to provide personalized interventions that support meaningful growth and change.

I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and discover new possibilities for healing, resilience, and self-understanding. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey.

My Mission

To provide client-centered, culturally sensitive psychotherapy with warmth and humility.

My Theoretical Approach

At the heart of my work is a belief in the healing power of a collaborative and attuned therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a space where clients feel deeply seen and supported, whether they’re seeking insight into longstanding patterns or looking for practical tools to navigate life’s challenges.

My approach is integrative and flexible, grounded in psychodynamic and multicultural frameworks that honor the complexity of each person’s lived experience.

I draw from evidence-based practices—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—to tailor our work to your specific needs and goals. I also hold a strong client-centered and relational stance, approaching each person with humility, curiosity, and respect.

Whether our work together is short-term or ongoing, I aim to support meaningful, sustainable growth by helping you better understand yourself and move toward the life you want to live.
