Meet Eli

My name is Eli Kravitz. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Thomas Edison State University. I was interested in psychology, but several pregraduate experiences gave me a real passion for the work, including my time as a resident adviser, a NAMI helpline volunteer, and an inpatient mental health worker at Sheppard Pratt. I then earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Stevenson University and became a Registered Psychology Associate (#A01170). I am now in my fifth year of doctoral training (Psy.D.), working under the supervision of Dr. Dan Isenberg, Licensed Psychologist.

I bring experience from a variety of clinical training sites to our work together. Over the past few years, my generalist training has spanned inpatient and outpatient settings, small practices and interdisciplinary teams. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults, doing both therapy and comprehensive psychological evaluations.

My clients have been diverse, both in terms of multicultural factors and presenting concerns. Many folks come to me to work through anxiety, stress, and trauma (including with EMDR). I also work a lot with ADHD, attention, and executive functioning. But you might come in with challenges from depression, relationships, substance use, physical health concerns, or something that doesn't fit in a neat box. You don't need a diagnosis to start or even a clear sense of your goals. You bring yourself and whatever's going on, and we'll make sense of it together to get you where you want to go.

Outside the office, I like to spend quality time with family and friends. In my free time (yeah, right), I enjoy writing about practical tools for managing stress and anxiety, with a relatable and lighthearted spin. I'm also working on my doctoral dissertation on leadership self-efficacy in emerging adults.

My Mission

My hope is to help you build the tools to thrive without me. If this goes well, we'll be planning for you to finish.

My Theoretical Approach

I like to say that I have clients, not modalities. For that reason, I take a goal-oriented but flexible and collaborative approach. I am committed to structuring therapy in a way that’s responsive to your style and needs.

I think about cases theoretically, and then I translate. That means my practice is empirically based minus textbook jargon (please stop me if I start to nerd out in session). I use a mix of second- and third-wave CBT, which means I blend the pragmatic and the emotional. We'll look at how your thoughts and beliefs are affecting you and build structured skills while holding space for your emotional process. I often integrate mindfulness and other coping skills into sessions.

Some people thrive with structure; others find breakthroughs by talking and seeing what comes up. Either way works, and I'll follow your lead. I'll also challenge you to grow past whatever's keeping you stuck. We’ll lean into the resources already in your life, including your personal strengths and your faith-based or cultural communities, to empower you through your healing and growth.

I try to keep the process human. You might hear about my feelings, lived experiences, and attempts at humor as I guide your process. And no, I certainly don’t wear a white coat (although I might wear the white shirt you see in my profile picture—sorry).
